Cancer myths
There is an article on Yahoo! that I just read about common cancer myths. It was pretty disturbing to me, especially as someone who works on cancer clinical trial data at work. The most common myth was that surgically removing cancer can cause it to spread. Now, I can't possibly imagine why someone would think this. It must just be misinformation passed down in families and what not. The article said that these myths were most likely to be "...held by older people, those of non-white descent, people living in southern states, and those who admitted that they were ignorant about cancer". The second most common myth was that a cure for cancer already exists but is being hidden so companies can make money. Well, I sure hope that's a myth because if not, I am basically doing all this work for nothing.

I don't see why people believe that last one. Who would hold back a cure that would win a nobel prize and bring about a thirty billion dollar patent?
