Rush the Security
The US government would apparently like people to have better security on the Internet. Looks like internet banking security might be beefed up. I say, bring on the biometrics! I keep hearing about all sorts of cool electronics that certain companies or businesses are using, but I don't actually see them anywhere, except on TV. I do understand that there are drawbacks and kinks to work out as far as biometrics, especially because you can't ever change your physical characteristics like a pin number. I pretty much all of my personal business online...view and pay bills, buy tickets, book hotels, do banking, buy gifts, etc. I do it without being real worried about someone stealing my identity, simply because I pretty much know what I'm doing. I know how to recognize a hoax or an email directing me to enter my information into a fake website. And I just don't think the odds are that high that I'm going to be "attacked". Someone could steal my snail mail and get the same information that I enter online. Personally, I am just fine with any security-beefing measures the government thinks are necessary. It's just more peace of mind for me. Regardless of the hoops I have to jump through, I love doing things online.

According to a survey conducted by Javelin research (on behalf of the Better Business Bureau)people who handle their financial affairs online are less likely to be victims of identity theft than those who rely on traditional paper statements and bills.
And even when they do get stung the losses are lower by a factor of 8 due to the fact that the problem is usually discovered much more quickly.
Food for thought.
