Man, today has been completely coincidence-ridden. A friend at work mentioned that today was 05-25-2005...oooOOOooOOOooo, maybe some kind of cosmic connection going on. Anyways, here's what happened today. The first one involves evolver's blog. Today he posted about an article on the possibility of brain uploads and downloads and how he thinks it is probably not possible to do a download, but perhaps an upload. This is weird because I watched an episode of Stargate SG-1 yesterday that was about just that topic. Some alien entity comes through the stargate, infects their computers, and then to survive, goes into one of the characters. Then, in order to free itself, it uploads the character's consciousness into the computer. The rest of the people realize it is her typing on the screen like in the movie Ghost. Then they hook the computer system up to her with some cables and they transfer her consciousness back into her body. Weird. Second one and beyond: Yesterday at work I decided to listen to Yahoo!'s launch radio instead of CDs. Instead of my usual choice, I listened to the 80s Pop station. Many songs played, but a few specifically caught my attention for one reason or another. One of them was the Strangelove song by Depeche Mode. It caught my attention because I wasn't expecting to hear any Depeche Mode on this station. Then today at lunch, someone sitting with us mentions Dr. Strangelove. Not that weird, I know. Well, another song that caught my ear was Cold Hearted Snake by Paula Abdul, again because I wasn't expecting it. Also today at lunch, we were talking about Paula Abdul and someone mentioned that song by name. Now we were talking about American Idol as usual, but I don't believe we've ever gone into detail about her old songs and such. Then after lunch, we start talking about interpreting literature and a friend starts talking about how he came up with some farfetched connection regarding a character's name. The example he gave was that the person's name was derived from Selena. My coincidence from last night was about me listening to Selena after years and her also being mentioned in the book I was reading by the medium John Edward (more on that below, too). After lunch, we had also been talking about different writers including Nietzsche. Now, all this talk about writers and stuff started from me mentioning the psychologist Carl Jung (pronounced Yung *wink*) so this coincidence isn't that strong, but when I went back to my desk and looked at my screen, a website was up about Carl Jung (before lunch I had been investigating his work in psychology on syncronicity and coincidences). No joke, the first word that my eye laid upon was Nietzsche. That was it for work time. So, later this evening, hubby and I are doing stuff in preparation for our move. We have our TiVo playing 80s songs from the computer (have you figured out that we love 80s music yet?). At one point, the song Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood comes on. At this point, I randomly decide to take a quick break and pick up my new John Edward book. I flip around and when I finally stop on a page (I swear it was the first page I stopped on for more than a second), the first word my eye falls upon is Frankie! Then! I flip around to later in the book, stop on a page, and in the transcript of one of John Edward's readings, some woman says the name Camille...my name (and a somewhat rare one at that).
So that's it for tonight I think. That is waaaaayyy too many coincidences for one day. Some are iffy and who knows, maybe I am seeing way too into things, but I don't know. I always pay that much attention to detail. I remember things that I read or saw or heard very easily when it is brought up again. So, it is strange that it happened so many times today.
Anyway, I think I came up with a name for my new blog: The Jungian Life. I'm not sure about it though and its kind of lame. I was going to make the blog just for coincidences, but when I started reading about the other stuff Carl Jung researched, I realized I was really interested in those things, as well...not just coincidences. Also, I'm starting to think making a separate blog for coincidences is asking for it. If I have any more days like today, I don't think I'm going to want to write it all and that anyone would want to read it. Though I do have some past coincidences that really blow me away that would be nice to get down.

Actually the Paula Abdul one is more glaring than it seems. I mean who remembers that song?
It's definitely not the first or even second one I think of from her.
