Of course, let's be sure to check the facts and see what the administration says to avoid another literally fatal Newsweek/Quran blunder. I literally want to throw up right now. And I don't give a crap who you voted for, if you don't have a major problem with this, I hope we're not friends and I hope I never meet you.
Now we wait.
And for dessert...some sickening irony in relation to the Newsweek thing:
"People lost their lives. People are dead," Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Capitol Hill. "People need to be very careful about what they say, just as they need to be careful about what they do."
I am speechless for once.

Despite the brutality of the 20th century, the lesson at least Western powers seemed to take away from it was, follow the code.
The norms for making war in that consensual era were the principles of collective defense, and the Just War doctrine... the idea that war was a thing of last resort for a commensurate threat, waged by legitimate authorities when diplomacy runs its course.
Has that norm been permantly altered, or is this era an abberation? I hope the latter...
