Marathons, here I come!

I've been a little hesitant to put this on here because I don't want to jinx it. But, what the hey. Okay, remember that weird stint a while back where I was "on a mission". Well, I'm on another one. It has only been three days, but I've been exercising at the crack of why am I awake. And running, at that. And I don't run. Monday, hubby got me up around 6:30am and we ran. It was a crazy move because we had just been putting down some laminate flooring the day before and I was starting to get sore. But, we did it. I'm really out of shape. It was horrendous. I had to stop and walk one time. My lungs were burning toward the end and I couldn't get any deep breaths. We walked the rest of the way. Horrible. Um, and all of this in the span of only 20 minutes or so. But it did not daunt me. I just figured I was crazy and that was the end of it. Tuesday came. We got up early again, this time a little earlier (though it took more coaxing to get me out of bed as my soreness was still in full effect and killed). I couldn't run, but we walked instead. It was great. I really enjoyed exploring our neighborhood and talking about different things. I haven't spent a lot of time with hubby in the recent past, so this was a nice change. Now, I totally overdosed on Smarties yesterday and may have undone some of the good work with empty calories, but oh well. Then comes today. I totally got up around 6am (was supposed to be 5:45). Ted has a temp assignment in DC today and I've got to take him to the metro early so we had to somehow fit in the running. And we did it. I didn't stop the whole way (though at some points I was almost not running at all). I ran farther before having to stop and got there faster, I could get full breaths the whole time, and my lungs didn't feel like they were completely on fire. Yay! Marathons here I come...

But, I always get too eager with these things and end up disappointing myself, so I'm not really going to go there just yet. I'm just going to stick with running for 20 minutes with my husband for now. It's a lot easier.

See, you've done the hardest part...started running.

Try looking around this site and see what he says about how he started running. He's possibly one of the most famous runners in the world and not because of any speed he has.

Hey! Congrats on the working out. I too have started working out. My job is a 12 hour sedentary thing so I gained 6 pounds plus lost muscle I had and gained fat. I started running. I've only worked out about times in the past week and a half. The first two days I did stretches and ran. The other two I did stretches and weights. I've lost 5 pounds. I'm rambling. Anyways, here's a link to a great website. There's plenty of tips there. There's also videos. Free! I bought a swiss/yoga ball and two 15lb. dumb bells, since I don't have room or money for anything else. The swiss ball really is the greatest workout tool ever.

Thanks Bobby! You were always one to work out. It is ten million times easier for me to do it since I have someone to do it with now.
